I had the pleasure of knowing Josh through Westmoreland County Community College. I was his instructor. I learned of his passing yesterday at a faculty meeting. I was shocked and saddened. He shared with me his love of trains, and a brilliant smile, bright as the sun. I was touched by his bravery in the way he faced his illness. He inspired me. I will forever miss Josh. He was a wonderful and unique soul! A blessing to all who he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We have never met, but I am a 3rd cousin of Gene Potter who I have met along with his wife, Carol. I feel your pain and pray our Lord gives you the comfort He has given me these 31 years since my son, Michael, passed away at the age of 22.
Your son has lived his entire life since mine passed away, but they had very similar interests. Mike was also a Boy Scout and a railroad enthusiast. He was studying to become a forest ranger to watch over all those wonderful trees he loved to hike among. May the Lord be with you ......

So sad to hear of Josh's passing. He had a bright future and made the most of his 21 years. From a fellow friend, photographer, and railfan. Condolences to the family.

Josh was an example of an outstanding young man who served his community with honor. His kindness and willingness to help at military funerals by sharing his musical talent gave peace to multiple families.

As a fellow rail enthusiast and former (I still considered him a friend as I would like to think he did too) friend of Josh's I can say he was one inspiring young man even for me being 2 months his elder. With the medical difficulties I've faced in life I thought I'd been dealt quite the hard hand sometimes then I found out Josh's story and have learned more since he passed and I'm dumbfounded at how he never expected pity or showed any bad emotions he fought it head on with a smile. He was and still is an inspiration to so many, myself included. You all have my deepest sympathy and will be in my prayers. R.I.P my friend, will never forget you and how great of a friend and inspiration you were and still are.

Please receive my deepest sympathies. Joshua fought a brave long battle against childhood cancer, a Demon I know all too well through my daughter. Josh taught so many people a very valuable lesson- about living. He knew to appreciate each day, to tell those you love how much you love them, to make each moment count. He never quit. He never "lost a battle". Josh seized each and every opportunity, and made the best out of ever situation. Nothing anyone can say will replace the void in your hearts, but know that Josh lived a life that had so much meaning. All who were privileged to know him- were blessed, and are better people for having known him. Many parents will hug thier children a lighter tighter tonight. We have been given an example of how to live, love, and enjoy life courtesy of a special young man. He will never be forgotten.
