Hello Family of Jackie Stauffer,
I am not Gustaf Carlson who was a shipmate of your husband, father and brother but his daughter, Susan. I am just sitting here today on 11/26/16 and getting out some memories of my father as he is still living but very ill. I have a christmas card that Jackie Stauffer sent to my father and Jackie Stauffer wrote:
SHIP MATE CVA39 Jackie Stauffer
Hello Moocher How are you doing? I am still Barbaring.
Then apparently my father was going to send it back to him or this is the card that goes back and forth each year I'm not sure what. My father writes on the back of the card:
Hi Mooch. Everyone here is doing fine. Two boys & two girls & another one on the way. Please send Christmas card earlier next year, so the mooch of the moochers can get it back to you on time. Gus Carlson CVA-39
This apparently by the date of children was written in 1963/early 1964.
Thought you might get a chuckle and I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know it is hard to loss a loved one. Dad has been declining and is now in hospice. Take care and I hope this finds you all well. Respectfully, Susan Carlson Sowden Strollo.
