Sharon Louise Smith

Sharon Louise (Chalfant) Smith, age 68 of Perryopolis, Pa. passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.  She was born on October 30, 1947 in Charleroi, Pa. the daughter of the late Andrew (Jarrett) Chalfant and Elsie Mae Lynn Chalfant.

She was a member of the Perryopolis United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Eastern Star where she was past matron and past district deputy.  She was president of the AFSCME local 8404.  She was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Red Hats and was a tour guide for the Perryopolis Service Travel club.

Sharon loved being active in social activities.  She worked for many years at Penn Dot. 

She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years Elmer E. Smith; brothers: Lynn R. Chalfant and wife Leanne of Holland, OH and Gregory Chalfant and wife Patricia E. of Perryopolis, PA; nieces and nephews Luke A. Chalfant, Michael L. Chalfant, Michelle Dusch, Brian P. Chalfant, Matthew Chalfant, and BethAnn M. Utz; other relatives and many friends.

Friends will be received in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence St., Perryopolis, Pa. 15473 on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 7-9 pm, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, and on Friday morning until 11:00 am, the hour of service.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Washington cemetery.  The Eastern Star and White Shrine Services will be held on Wednesday at 7:15 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively.  Arrangements are under the direction of the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa.
