Marilyn Frances Taylor Young, age 85 of Perryopolis, Pa, formerly of Belle Vernon and Fairchance passed away Friday, on August 29, 2025 surrounded by family in her sleep at AGH Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills, PA. She was born in Charleroi on April 30, 1940 a daughter of Eugene and Bertha Bowers Taylor.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Young; brother, Maurice Taylor.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon for over twenty years and was a member of the choir. Her hobbies were cooking, shopping, gardening, caring for her cats, her grandson’s dog Ranger and eating out.
She is survived by her son, Michael Schomer and his wife Diana of Perryopolis; grandsons: Jared and Michael Jack Schomer of Perryopolis; granddaughter, Janel Salter and her husband Kevin of Hazelhurst, GA; two great grandchildren: Tiara and Kalejah of Hazlehurst, GA; sister, Clara Volpe of Upper St Clair; nieces: Daina DeBacker of Texas, Laura Reuther of Colorado; companion, Chuck Deardorf of Perryopolis..
She had a great love of family and friends.
In honoring Marilyn’s wishes there will be no viewing or funeral services.
Interment will be at Taylor Cemetery, Centerville, PA..
In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the Downs Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh, 2211 Lesnett Road, Unit 12864, Pittsburgh, Pa 15241.
