Louis L. Giovannelli

Louis L. ”Sonny” Giovannelli, age 82 of Jefferson Twp. passed away on Wednesday, September 19 , 2018 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on August 7, 1936 in Connellsville, a son of Alfred and Rose Dreon Giovannelli.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Sally Jane (Thornton) Giovannelli on July 16, 2016; brother, Alfred Giovannelli.

Sonny was a member and business agent for the Carpenters Union formerly Local 84 securing work in Fayette, Washington and Greene counties where he was responsible for procuring Carpenters Union work. He received the Washington Labor Hall of Fame award from Washington County.

He was a member of Trout Unlimited and President of Red Line Gas Company. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy  Perryopolis, PA. Lou was one of a few carpenters to enjoy retirement, he also had two sons who were both carpenters. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family.

Lou is survived by his sons; Douglas Giovannelli and Kirk Giovannelli both of Perryopolis; two granddaughters: Sierra Giovannelli and Tia Giovannelli of Perryopolis; great grandson, Alec Giovannelli; brother, Danny Giovannelli and his wife Maryann of South Carolina.

Lou’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA where his Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Interment is private.

The Sons of Italy will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
