Joy Gertrude (Nicolaus) Hixson

Joy Gertrude (Nicolaus) Hixson age 83 of Smithton, PA passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018. She was born on May 30, 1934, the daughter of Carl Edward and Suzanna Burgan Nicolaus.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Sherman Hixson; son, Bobby Hixson; grandson, Marc Hixson; granddaughter, Amanda Hixson; brother, Carl Nicolaus.

Joy was an active member of Hope Memorial Lutheran Church, Smithton, PA and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smithton V.F.W.

Joy is survived by her sons: Mark Allan Hixson and his wife Anita of Smithton and Dana Hixson; daughter, Suzanna Peedon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joy’s family will receive friends from 9 -11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. A Chapel Service will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA.
