Albert Boniella, age 95, of Wickhaven, PA, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, PA. He was born on January 12, 1924 in Star Junction, PA, a son of Angelo and Lenora Pennella Boniella.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty seven years, Florence A. Dernovsek Boniella; son, Albert Francis Boniella; brothers: George, John, Earnest; sisters: Florence and Julia; son in law, Benjamin J. Olinzock, Jr.
Albert was a member of St. John the Baptist R. C. Church, Perryopolis, PA.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his daughters: Marlene A. Olinzock of Perryopolis, Christine Adams and her husband Paul of Stahlstown, PA; son, David Boniella of Wickhaven; grandchildren: Maureen Olinzock and her husband Mike Wolfe of Pittsburgh, Marla Olinzock and her husband Darren Kapinus of Newell; great grandson, Avery Matthews of Newell; several nieces and nephews.
Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a combat medic with the 333rd medical infantry. He was honorably discharge receiving the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Bronze Star and a World War II Victory Medal.
He worked for U. S. Steel as a welder, Corning Glass and Fisher Body, Lorain, Ohio.
Albert was a kind and gentle soul who would help anyone in need be it family, neighbor or friend. He loved carpentry and built his own home. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around his house. He also liked polka music, gardening and backyard BBQ’s.
Albert’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA, 15473 where Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, PA with full military rites and honors being accorded by the Goldstar V.F.W. Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752.
The Rosary will be said at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
The family would like to thank the Mt. Macrina Manor staff, doctors and Amedisys Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion for Albert during the last four years. He loved being a part of the Mount Macrina Family.
