Loretta L. (Knight) Mellinger

Loretta L. (Knight) Mellinger, age 88 of Dawson, PA passed away at her home on Wednesdy, February 22, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fuller Station. Perryopolis, Pa on February 26, 1928, a daughter of Charles L. knight and Blanch Farlow Knight.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lewis A. Mellinger in 2015; daughter, Lucinda Jo Mellinger in 1956; brother, Laurie D. Knight.

Loretta was Methodist by faith. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra Rimel of Dawson; granddaughter Sherri R. Rimel of Connellsville; grandson, Barry Rimel, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Dawson; two great grandsons: Chase Rimel and Emmett Rimel; sister: Aloise Thorpe of West Newton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Loretta’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA where her funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m.  on Saturday with Rev. Mylissa Snyder, officiating. Interment to following in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, PA.
