James "Jim" "Pap" Keating

February 25, 1943 ~ May 2, 2018 (age 75)


James "Pap" Keating, age 75 of Perryopolis, PA passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He was born on February 25,1943 in Uniontown, PA, son of the late James Bernard Keating and Carmela (Lena) Margaret LaMonica Keating. 
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War and retired after 22 years; ending his career as a Marine Recruiter with a rank as  Master Gunnery Sergeant. Jim grew up working at the Keating Greenhouse in New Salem, PA.  He also retired from TEI Analytical Services in Washington, PA. 
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judith (Judy) Herring Keating; children: James Keating and wife Joy of Smithton, John R. Keating and wife Pamela of Monroeville, Christopher M. Sullivan and wife Dawn of Belle Vernon, Gregory S. Sullivan and wife Christina of Cypress, CA.,  grandchildren: Christian, Ashley, Callie, Nakell, Tyler, Daniel, Angela and Madeline; great grandson, Noah James;  siblings: Donna Cesario of New Salem; Pete Keating and his wife Aleta of Titusville, FL, Vincent Keating and wife Katie of Little Hocking, OH; many nieces and nephews:
Jim's family will receive friends on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA.  The VFW of Perryopolis Post 7023, will conduct a service on that evening at 7:30 pm
On Tuesday, May 8, 2018 Parting Prayers will be said at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church with Father Anthony Ditto as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at 1:30 pm in the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville PA.
