Thomas Edward Glawinski

Thomas Edward Glawinski, age 73 of Perryopolis, passed away  on Monday, December 11, 2017, in Mon-Valley Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born, October 3, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Thomas and Mabel Tomlison Glawinski.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Velma.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Alice Ritenour Glawinski;  the following children: son, Thomas Steven Glawinski and wife Lisa of Allenport, PA,  Debra LeJohn and husband, Brady of California, PA, Michelle Weightman and husband, John of Charleroi; grandchildren: Sammi, Jake, Anna,  Madison, John and Fiancée, Miranda , Steven and wife, Samantha; four great grandchildren: William, Madelyn, Mason,  Olivia,  a brother, Albert “Butch” Connolley and wife, Carol of Grindstone;  mother-in-law, Alice Mae Ritenour and numerous nieces,  nephews and  his very special, canine buddy, Rudy.

Thomas was very active in community affairs, no matter where he lived. He was the Assistant Chief at Allenport V. F. D. and an ambulance driver.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Sokol Club, Sons of Italy all of Perryopolis; Star Junction Fish and Game Club; Hutchinson Club of Brownfield.  He was a proud veteran having served in the Army and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7023 and the American Legion Post 752 both of Perryopolis and the AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.

Tom was an outdoors man, playing and coaching baseball, hunting, playing softball for Westinghouse, watching and cheering his Steelers on to victory.  After “retirement” from Westinghouse you could find Tom greeting the people coming to the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home.   He always took the time to talk to each person to who came and went.  He took the time to help all those around him who needed someone to talk to, cut grass and to fix things that needed fixing. 

Those of us who knew and were touched by Tom, will miss him greatly.

Tom’s family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa with additional viewing hours on Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 9 to 10 AM where Prayer of Transfer will be said at 10:00AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with Father Anthony Ditto as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, Pa. where full military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post Gold Star 7023 and American Legion Post 752.  

The Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
