Sally Jane (Thornton) Giovannelli

Sally Jane (Thornton) Giovannelli, age 78, of Jefferson Township, Fayette County, PA passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was born in Brownsville, PA on November 12, 1937, daughter of Dwayne Thornton and Sadie McCune Thornton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Thornton and Leroy Thornton; sister, Bessie Henck.

Sally graduated from Brownsville High School  “Class of 1956” and was  very active in the annual class reunions. She was instrumental in starting the bocci league at the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Perryopolis. She was an independent contractor with Home Interiors and Gifts for over twenty years and truly enjoyed her hostesses and her fellow demonstrators. She looked forward to the annual conventions and workshops.  Sally loved to travel with “Louie”, the love of her life, especially to Florida to visit with friends. She was a very social person enjoying a wide range of friends, who loved her dearly, activities such as dancing, flea markets, shopping, especially at Gabe’s, theatres, playing cards and dominoes. Above all Sally loved her family, sons, Doug and Kirk, grandchildren Sierra and Tia and great grandson, Alec.

Sally is survived by her husband of 60 years, Louis L. Giovannelli, two sons: Douglas Giovannelli of Jefferson Twp. And Kirk Giovannelli of Star Junction; granddaughters: Sierra Giovannelli, Tia Giovannelli both of Perryopolis; great grandson, Alec; many nieces and nephews.   

Sally’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA where a Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 with Pastor Matthew Stabe, officiating.  Interment is private.
