Michael Rubish

October 1, 1938 ~ August 24, 2016 (age 77) 77 Years Old


Michael Rubish, age 77 of Perryopolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 1, 1938 in Perryopolis son of George Rubish, Sr. and Anna Hollis Rubish.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Patchan Rubish; brothers: George and John.

Mike was the beloved District Justice for Perryopolis Borough, Perry Twp., Upper Tyrone, Lower Tyrone, Dawson and Everson, later serving as Senior District Judge for Fayette County retiring after 30 years of service. He was a lifetime and devoted member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. He was a member of the following organizations: Knights of Columbus, Perryopolis Slovak Catholic Sokol, Perryopolis Historical Society, Perryopolis V.F.W. Gold Star Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752, Perryopolis Veterans Honor Roll Committee, Perryopolis Moose, Perryopolis Fish and Game, Fayette County Association for the Blind and the Perryopolis Sons of Italy. One of Mike’s fondest memories was coaching Frazier Youth Football for over ten years. He loved gardening, bowling, playing euchre and bocce.

 

Mike is survived by his three children which he devoted his life to raising: Stacey Erdely and her husband Roger of Fayette City, Michael S. Rubish and his wife Heather of Perryopolis, Rebecca A. Rubish and her fiancée Dave Matty of Perryopolis; six grandchildren who he loved and adored: Annika Erdely, Kenadi Erdely, Nixen Erdely, Michael Rubish, Logan Rubish and Lucas Rubish;  brothers: Paul and Ted; sisters: Mary, Ann, Helen, Irene and Elizabeth; his canine buddy, Lulu.

Mike’s family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home until 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 when the Panachida will be held. A Divine Liturgy will follow in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father Oleh Seremchuk as Celebrant.

Interment to follow in St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Perryopolis, PA.

A Parastas will be held in the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Sunday,

Memorial contributions can be made in Mike’s memory to the Fayette County Association for the Blind or St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
