Leona Marguerite (Morris) Greene

October 27, 1916

Leona Marguerite Morris Greene, a life-long resident of Perryopolis, passed from this life into eternity, walking off in a dream, early Friday morning, September 16, 2016 at 3:45 a.m. at Generations Elder Care, Inc., where she had been a resident since August 5th, just 42 days before her 100th birthday. She was born October 27, 1916 a daughter of James Morris and Ella Martin Morris of Perryopolis. She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend to many. Leona had five super energetic and talented boys which kept her busy for most of her younger years. Sadly, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Greene early in life but she never gave up and worked hard to keep her family together. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, of Perryopolis and supported those in need and the less fortunate whenever given the opportunity. She loved to cook and bake, always preparing for her many family visits that she enjoyed so much.

Left to cherish her memory are her five sons and their wives, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren: Eugene (Dick) and Alice of Perryopolis, Jim and Karen (Kay) of Smock, Bruce and Linda of Perry Twp., Bob and Joanne of Boiling Springs, SC, and David and Terrie of Dunbar; twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, all whom she loved and adored, and also numerous friends and neighbors.

Leona’s family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. Her funeral will be held the following day (Monday) at the First Christian Church, next to the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Melissa Snyder, officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the First Christian Church,

The family would like to give special thanks to Ada, Rich and the entire staff at Generations Elder Care, Inc. as well as Amedysis Hospice of Uniontown for taking such wonderful care of Leona during her last weeks of this earthly life. We were so very blessed to have had her in our lives for such a long time. She will be greatly missed and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
