Kathryn Suzanne (Schmeltz) Geary

Kathryn Suzanne Schmeltz Geary of Tarentum, PA, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the age of 38 in West Penn Hospice Pittsburgh, PA. She was born September 1, 1976 in Westmoreland County the daughter of Nancy Schmeltz and the late Richard B. Schmeltz.

Katy was a graduate of Geibel High School Class of 1994.  She was an avid fan of the Steelers, and Pirates.  She loved to participate in the activities and events that were sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Richard B. Schmeltz, of Perryopolis, Pa, her paternal “Grammie”, Mildred Schmeltz, her maternal grandparents and her “Uncle Phil”.

She is survived by her mother, Nancy, three wonderful and courageous children: Lara Marie, Maggie Ann and Richard Joseph (RJ), her brother, Dr. Mark Schmeltz and his family, wife Shelley Ann ,  and daughters: MacKenzie  and Sydney of Edwardsburg, MI, many uncles, aunts and cousins and her ex-husband Joe Geary.

Friends will be received in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Inc. 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM the hour of service.  Interment will be private
