Irene "Sandy" Stewart

Irene S. Stewart, age 74 of Flatwoods passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 22, 1941 in Weeks Mills, ME, a daughter of Voyle Reed and Louise Sawyer Reed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Polly Thompson and her brother, Sheldon Reed.

Irene was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, Smock, PA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to bake and cook. She also looked forward to trips to the casino and vacationing with her husband, sister and brother in law.

Irene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Stewart; children: Diana Grady and her husband Bill of Palermo, ME, Lori Stewart of Flatwoods and Joe Stewart and his wife Dianne of Ligonier; grandchildren: Todd and Ryan Thompson, Shawna Grady and Ruthie and Ellie Stewart, J.J. and Karis Stewart; great granddaughter, Josie Thompson; sister, Betty Glidden and her husband Sherwood of Weeks Mills, ME; brother, Ernie Reed of West Palm Beach, FL; also many nieces and nephews.

Irene’s family will receive friends, Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA 15473 and Monday until 11 AM the hour of her funeral service with Rev. Skip Noftzger, officiating. Visitation was also held Saturday from 6-8 PM. Interment to follow in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, PA.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, 533 Royal Road, Smock, PA.
