Irene (Buza) Cowan

Irene (Buza) Cowan, age 96 of Perryopolis, PA passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

She was born on September 26, 1919 in Fayette City, PA a daughter of Joseph Buza and Mary Meszaros Buza.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Cowan in 2007; a daughter, Dorothy Pushnack Booth; a brother, Joseph Buza.

Irene lived on the family farm for the past 70 years enjoying the outdoors and gardening. As a homemaker she loved cooking and baking.

She is survived by her two children: a son, George R. Cowan and his wife Lois; a daughter, Patricia Pavtis, all of Perryopolis; three grandchildren: Susan Pushnack Shahan and her husband Delbert of Youngwood, PA; Lonnie Pavtis and his wife Lisa of Perryopolis, PA and George L. Cowan of Perryopolis, PA.

Irene’s family will receive friends, today, Sunday November 8, 2015 from 5-8 pm in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. Additional visitation will take place on Monday, November 9, 2015 until Noon, the hour of her funeral service. Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, PA.
