Etta May (Farlow) Sechrist

Etta May Sechrist, age 91 of Dawson, PA  died on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Excela Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. She was born November 5, 1925, in Reduction, Westmoreland County, PA, a daughter of John W.  Farlow, Sr. and Maryetta (Faidley) Farlow.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Melvin D. Sechrist, Sr. on April 25, 1994, and a daughter, Rosetta (Rose).

Etta was co-owner of Sechrist Auto Wreckers in Dawson, and was well known for the wedding cakes she created.

Etta is survived by a son, Melvin D. Sechrist, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Dawson; grandchildren: Michael A. Sechrist of Dickerson Run, Joseph R. Mellinger, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Perryopolis, Stacy J. Stillwagon and her husband Daniel of Belle Vernon;  and sister-in-law Caroline Muniz of Cleveland Ohio; cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Etta’s family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2017, from 3 to 8 p.m.in the Blair –Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA, where her funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m. with Greg Pelc, minister officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, PA.
