Dorothy Jean (Sherrick) Guariglia

August 11, 1925 ~ November 29, 2015 (age 90) 90 Years Old


Dorothy Jean “Dot” Sherrick Guariglia age 90 of Flatwoods died on November 29, 2015.  She was born in Kingview, PA on August 11, 1925.  Dot was the daughter of the late Ralph and Martha Sherrick. She was a member of St. John the Baptist church in Perryopolis.  During WWII, Dot worked at Robert Shaw in Youngwood on aircraft parts for the planes used in the war. After the war, Dot worked as a seamstress finisher at Sports Wear, London Park. She graduated from Connellsville High School in 1943 and is survived by her husband Pat of 65 years, daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Stewart and her husband Gene, granddaughters Joleen Stewart of VA, Jodi White and her husband Josh and great granddaughters Lauren and Katie White.  She is preceeded by her brothers Ralph Jr., William and Sam Sherrick all of Connellsville.

Dot, as she was known by all, was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. She loved her home and family with all her heart.  She loved to bake, cook and sew.  She especially enjoyed sewing dolls and doll clothing for her grandchildren which her great grandchildren still enjoying playing with today.  Dot was often visited by her great grandchildren whom she called her “beautiful little girls”.  Dot will be missed by her family.  We have been so blessed to feel the depth of her unconditional love, devotion and family loyalty.  We were so lucky to have such an amazing woman, our mom and grandmother as the centered root of strength and love in our life.

Dot’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 4 – 8 PM in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday until 11 AM, the hour of her Blessing Service with Father Ronald Simboli, officiating. Interment to follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, PA.   

As a token of sympathy memorial contributions can be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
