Dorothy M. (Sechrist) Bilohlavek dedicated her life to her husband, children and God. She went into God’s hands at the age of 86 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center on Thursday, January 25, 2018. She was a lifetime resident of Perryopolis, PA since her birth on May 11, 1931. She was the daughter of Harry and Sylvia (Hixenbaugh) Sechrist.
Dorothy was very active as a member of Perryopolis United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, playing the piano, being an organist as well as a soloist, and attending Israfil class. She continued her love of music by being in numerous choirs including the Scottdale Choral Society and giving piano and voice lessons at home. She loved being a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Perryopolis playing cards and putting jigsaw puzzles together. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of American Colonists (DAC).
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Hope Baker, Lois Carson, and a brother, Harry Craig Sechrist.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John B. Bilohlavek; the following sons: Gregory B.Bilohlavek of Germantown, Maryland, Philip R. Bilohlavek and wife, Gail of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Byron P. Bilohlavek and wife, Carol of Carmichaels, PA, Mark E. Bilohlavek and wife, Sharon of Lewes, Delaware and one daughter, Lisa M. Bullock and husband, Edward of Independence, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister Norma Allison of Perryopolis, PA and a sister-in-law Lois Jean Sechrist of Somerset, PA and a brother-in-law, Clarence Carson of Perryopolis, PA.
Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 1 to 7 p.m. in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, in the Perryopolis United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Derek Platt, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.
Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis PA.
