David "Shappy" C. Shaporka

Shaporka, David “Shappy” Craig, age 37 of Grindstone died unexpectedly at his home on October 14, 2016. He was born on September 13, 1979 a son of Gary Shaporka and Jacquelyn Robinson Shaporka.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Olga Shaporka; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Rachael Robinson.

David was a graduate of Frazier High School, Class of 1998. He also graduated from the Pittsburgh Gunsmith School. He was formerly employed at the Westmoreland County Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. He was presently employed by the I.U.P.A.T.D.C. 57 painter’s union. David was an avid hunter and fisherman, thoroughly enjoying the outdoors.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brothers: Daniel G. Shaporka and his wife Amanda, Matthew R. Shaporka all of Grindstone;

Numerous aunts, uncles and nieces. He loved his beagle pet “Shelby”.

David’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA where a Panachida Service will take place at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. A Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday in The Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, West Brownsville, PA with the Very Reverend Father Samuel J. Smolcic as celebrant. EVERYONE PLEASEMEET AT THE CHURCH Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Grindstone, PA.
